Rev 14:1
Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

This is speaking of the 'second coming'. It seems strange and hard to believe even for those who truly believe in Jesus as the Messiah (Christ). We are limited by our mortal abilities when it comes to comprehending that Jesus would come back a second time, as the Lion of Judah, to save Israel's elect at their time of greatest need.

The 144,000 is a composition of 12,000 members of each of the 12 tribes of Israel and are set apart specifically. The are so in order to not be harmed by the calamities coming upon the earth at this time and to tell the world of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what the Bible teaches and we can take this literally.

Just as Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies in the Old Testament regarding His first coming, we can count on the second coming of the Lord as it is prophesied in the Old and New Testaments. The prophesies concerning the Lord Jesus' second coming are nearly 300% more in number than those regarding His first.

Believe!

Rev 7:2,3

2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:

3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

Great harm is taking place upon the earth. Many people in our society today cry out against injustices. We have concerns for the environment, concerns for human rights and violations of these rights, and we protest and demand our voices be heard.

But at this time their is great wrath. Wrath is God's judgment - God's justice as told of by the prophets and priest for millennium is now unfolding upon mankind for not repenting of his murders, stealing and disobedience to God.

In the book of Jeremiah we read of a nation being deported for not paying attention to God's declaration on letting the land rest after 7 years of cultivation (Is this an environmental concern? More so prophetic though God's creation is a concern of His as well.). Is this a harsh judgment? Not so due to what was going on in this society as it drifted from the morality we find in the Bible that society is suppose to be governed by. The land was not the only victim of greed as we see social injustices take place at this time. This took place around 590 B.C.. That is nearly 600 years before the birth of Jesus the Messiah.

God's justice is just - Jeremiah warned his nation of impending doom for not obeying God. He did so for thirty years but one may not realize this as you read the history of this prophets ministry which is only a few pages long.

Jeremiah 7:6

If you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,
NIV

If man would only obey God,
how much better off would our society be?

Just as Jeremiah warned of the impeding doom upon his society, the 144,000 Jews warn mankind at a time some say is on the horizon of our modern day - those that are still alive who escape the coming destruction and eventual eternal damnation of their soul - by accepting Christ as their Lord and as their Savior. This will bring about the greatest revival in history as many will seek Jesus as their Savior.

Have you done so yourself? Are you saved as the expression goes? Are you saved from God's justice and are you under His mercy and Covenant of Grace we find within the New Testament? Though the time of the Great Tribulation prophesied within the Bible from its very beginnings some 6,000 years ago and which still lies ahead of our day is yet to come, you have no righteousness of your own if you are not saved. Here is a prayer that will lead you into this salvation.

Without the Salvation of the Cross,
one is doomed for eternity!

Romans 3:10-12

10 As it is written:

"There is none righteous, no, not one;

11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.

12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."
NKJV

The concept that is being presented in Romans 3 is that it is impossible for any man to enter Heaven based on his ability to be good. God looks with favor upon the good men do but they cannot be saved by their efforts. Understand that Christ Jesus came to the earth to die not because you can be a good person and go to Heaven but to make it possible for one to do so. One cannot attain Heaven in their eternal state outside of the Cross of Jesus Christ. If you believe Jesus is the Savior you must understand you have to accept Him as such and knot just have a factually based idea and still run headlong into a worldly lifestyle that God forbids us to live in.

Just as Jeremiah warned his people to repent 2,600 years ago so the Bible warns every man and women today they are to turn away from sin and turn to God so their eternal state will be spent in Heaven and not in hell.

Currently we are under a time of grace. Man has been within God's grace for over 6,000 years as of our present time. But as forewarned by prophets we find within the Bible for thousands of years, there will be a time of 7 years unfolding of God's wrath. Three and a half years of this period of 7 will be the earth's most devastating period.

Daniel the prophet along with others tell us this day (3.5 years) will be like no other in history. Jesus told us 2,000 years ago there will never be a time like this in all history warning us ahead of His time foretelling of its great destruction.

One might ask how can a loving God - as we say He is - allow for such a time to pass?

But with love there must be justice. We demand that there is. We have police, prisons, laws, and judges ruling over our societies as to make sure there is social justice and not anarchy. God will restore the earth to a place not hostile to life. No diseases, no pain and suffering, no death.

Isaiah 2:4

He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Rev 7:1-17

1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree.

2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,

3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads.”

The 144,000

  1. 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

  2.
  3. 5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed,

  4. from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand,

  5. from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand,

  6. 6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand,

  7. from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand,

  8. from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,

  9. 7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand,

  10. from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand,

  11. from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand,

  12. 8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand,

  13. from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand,

  14. from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand

  were sealed.

9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

10 And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

12 saying: "Amen!
  1. Praise and
  2. glory and
  3. wisdom and
  4. thanks and
  5. honor and
  6. power and
  7. strength
be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

13 Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes who are they, and where did they come from?"

14 I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15 Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.

17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
