The Da Vinci Code

The Deception Within

The Da Vinci Code; A book filled with intrigue and hidden messages. To the unlearned reader, there is another hidden agenda, to keep the real truth from being believed in regard to the Bible and to create a lie of what Christians claim to be true.

Prophecy Today Ministries

One thing to note, If you don't like being deceived and led astray, do not bother to take the book by Dan Brown as being accurate in anyway, shape, or form. If you thought you would be reading an accurate description of Christianity by buying this book or an untold story that individuals were trying to hide, you were deceived.

I would recommend reading a book by Lee Strobel called "The Case For Christ." I plan to bring some in for the students who may want to purchase one at a reduced price. For many years Lee Strobel dismissed the Gospel accounts as mere fiction. He assumed that either Jesus never existed or if he did, the stories about him had been turned into mythology by the early church. He was an atheist and wanted to document his concept of Christianity in a book to prove his point.

The Case For Christ: A Journalist's Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus --
by Lee Strobel; Paperback. ISBN# 0-310-22655-4

Lee Strobel was a legal editor for the Chicago Tribune where he was an award winning journalist.
His academic achievements include a Master of Studies in Law from Yale Law School.

This book was written long before the Da Vinci Code had been written and shows why the Da Vinci Code is in error.

Understand that Strobel did not set out to disprove the Da Vinci Code. He set out to disprove the Bible as an investigative reporter, but found the evidence for the Gospels so overwhelming, that he wrote the book "The Case For Christ" and in advance disproved the Da Vinci Code before it was written.

The Gospels we hold to be true have stood the test of time for 2000 years. The Dead Sea Scrolls prove the Old Testament text, which contain the prophecies concerning the Christ, have been copied accurately for that length of time as well.

Christianity is one of the most important faiths of humanity. To defame this faith, like the Da Vinci Code does, is not just a light hearted text about the Christian faith depicted in a fictional novel. In other words, the author has a hidden agenda of his own. This is what must be kept relevant in one's mind in referencing this book.

Dan brown, the author of the Da Vinci Code, claimed that all of his work is based on accurate historical events. Though the book has been listed under fiction, one must note that the underling suggestions is that the Church and Christendom is false and will resort to all sort of chicanery to keep its secrets from being revealed.

I am a Christian and I speak below on those terms. But please understand, whether you are a Christian or not, the text of the Bible have been proven through scientific research in the areas of archaeology and of the examination of historical writings of non religious sorts, as well as hostile witnesses. A hostile witness is one who wishes to discredit a subject in question, but by doing so, inadvertently upholds traits of the individual that give credit to the subject on trial.

An example of this is in the writings of "Julian the Apostate" [Flavius Claudius Julianus (AD 332 - AD 363)] where he confirms, in his hostile writings, the miracles of Jesus which were well known during his day. Even a psychoanalyst of the writers of the Gospels Christians hold to be true (Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John) have been accomplished to see whether they were evading truth or adding their own ideas to actual historical events. The gospels that the Da Vinci Code relies on fails these conditions. That is why they have been disregarded long ago by the Church.

No other document has been brought under the scrutiny as the text of the Bible has. We see the Bible prevail in accuracy of its depiction of cultures and geographical locations time and time again. As the sciences advance and more discoveries are made in the field of archeology, the Bible is upheld as accurate time and time again.

There is a natural tendency for men to want to see the ancient text of the Bible as being distorted from what it actually says. This is due to our separation from God after the fall. The Bible itself makes note of this. The Da Vinci Code is an example of mankind trying to avoid God and His Laws.

The Da Vinci Code will become a bible of sorts to those who cannot accept what the Bible teaches. Even as Christians, our bodies are in strife with the Holy Spirit... We don't want to do what the scriptures tell us due to natural tendency of our present state. Others will think that there might be something in this book that will help them in their faith not realizing what lies inside. Some will want to justify, what their conscience might be telling them is wrong, their immoral conduct. We need to find a fault outside ourselves when it comes to the moral question since this is our natural tendency. The Da Vince Code will suffice for those who do not want to know what God's word really says.

The sad thing is that the Bible speaks of a love that far exceeds anything man can produce. If men are just willing to truly accept this love, they would begin to experience God's love and it will grow within them. Christ came to take responsibility for our actions. With His love dwelling within us, His laws written on our hearts, we can follow along and ask for forgiveness when we fail. This is what Christianity is about. It is a gift of God not a man - made religion.

A Rabbi named Nicodemus who was an expert in his religious text questions Jesus about His teachings.

John 3:1-5
3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.

2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."

3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

NIV

Nicodemus eventually comes to know of this great love given to us by Christ as seen by his actions as they are depicted in the Bible. If you would like to accept Christ, that is to truly trust in His work on the Cross for your sins, just see the link on this web page titled Heaven. By the way, the entire web site contains information on how Jesus fulfilled Prophecy and shows how Christ is spoken of thousands of years before His birth.

Are you looking for who God is, a new birth, a new beginning? Have you been deceived into reading the Da Vinci Code in thinking that it may be edifying and helpful in your quest? If so, the information below and on this web site should help you discern the truth.

The New Testament has firsthand eyewitnesses (writers) who had direct contact with Jesus or with others who did.

The Gospel of Luke has been attested by secular (non - religious) historians as one of the most accurate historical accounts of ancient times. Dr. Luke wrote the Gospel that bears his name and the Book of Acts.

We have some evidence that Paul was put to death around A.D. 64, which means the Book of Acts was composed before this time. We know that the Book of Luke was written before the Acts since it is a Gospel and Acts concludes with the events after Christ' death.

This gives the Gospels credibility and accuracy since they were written by eyewitness shortly after the Crucifixion.

The word Gospel means "Good News," and refers to that teaching of Jesus Christ as the way man can enter eternal life in glory ...in Heaven as opposed to being in torment, which is the state of man since the fall. The writers of these text believed this as they were writing them long before the Nicene Creed was written.

There are those who would deem Christianity's claims as being false in this day and there were those who had done so back during the first century AD. If the Gospel accounts of Christ' life were not accurate, then the unfriendly witnesses would have protested. There would have been literature protesting the Gospel as they were being spread out. There were those who did protest of course, but their claim proves the miracles of Jesus Christ as they try to belittle His deity. People could not deny the miracles that had taken place, but they may argue whether He was the Christ (Messiah). Therefore antagonist would have to argue the importance of the miraculous as they approached the faith with hostility.

We see this in Julian's account, who in is hatred for Christianity and Judaism portrays Christ' miracles, such as healing the sick, blind, and the out casting demons in his attempt defame Him.

Julian bears witness to the early dates of the Gospels as well. Since he is what is considered a hostel witness, and his objective was to defame Christ and Christianity, we can take into account the accuracy of the dates of the earliest estimates of the Gospels since he argues for them. We can accept what the Gospels say of Christ' abilities as they are noted by Julian in his attempt to belittle them.

What does Dan Brown have going for him in his ridicules book, "The Da Vinci Code?" Well, you have to use your imagination to see things that are not there such as a 'W' in the Leonardo Da Vinci's painting of the Last Supper and rely on rumors that have no bearing in historical accuracy at all. He also portrays an organization as being a Christian Mafia of sorts hiding the secrets that he wishes to portray to you in his book.

Dan Brown fails in his book. He fails by hurting Christians by defaming their belief. You see the human mind loves the mysterious and the flesh cannot accept a God who demands his followers be moral. This is man's natural tendency. Dan Brown will captivate those who may be borderline in their faith or it might keep people from seriously considering the Gospels. One thing that is certain, the Christian faith has the most documented and accurate account of antiquity, the Bible!

Consider why the Christian faith is the most persecuted of all religions. In the ancient world, you could worship hundreds of gods but to deny all other gods and believe in Christ alone caused great distress to a fallen world. The world is under satan's control at this time. This is why men face war and famine, and why Christians are thought of as the enemy of peace.

There is a trend to portray Christians as hostile individuals and point out people who had a "banner of Christianity" but did needless violence to people. I must say that just as there are people of all cultures and backgrounds of this world that do things that are contrary to what is truly righteous, there are people who call themselves Christian but do not belong to Christ' teaching at all. And there are those who will never admit to God being God and would never change regardless of what evidence is presented to them in regard to the scriptures. They must also portray the Bible in error or they are themselves seen in error. Jesus said that men would not come to the light referring to Himself. That is to say that man does not want to bother with his guilt...his sin. He does not want to be discomforted by this. Man justifies his deeds in his own conscience which is corrupted.

John 3:19-20
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
NKJV

I heard of history books being altered to present Christians as the barbarians of certain acts while they were in no way, shape or form involved in the circumstances. It is just an all out defaming of Christian's and their Bible. The Bible speaks of a persecution still to come for both Jews and Christians. We can see this today in our media as even the name Christmas needs to be altered to Xmas.

Before the Jewish persecution conducted by the Nazis, there was propaganda defaming the Jewish race across Germany. A Jewish journalist had warned Christians recently that he sees the same trend today in cartoons on TV and in the media in general right here in the United States defaming Christians.

If Christianity was a made up religion, persecution would not follow. Jesus said if they persecute me, what will they do to you. He was stating if they would want to murder the Messiah, God's only Son, what would they do to His followers. This is not a way to make up a religion of devoted individuals. You would want to embrace people as cults do today not tell them, "Pick up your cross and follow me."

I had a women tell me that religions were made up to control people. In some instances, she is correct. This has been done with the Christian faith as well. But this is not what the Bible teaches. Corrupt men have done such things to gain control and power. We know that the prophets of the Bible were persecuted. They did not gain control or power. Isaiah was sawn in half while laid on a tree. Jeremiah was beaten and left to die of starvation in a dry well. On and on we can go and see what the upholders of God's word suffered for what they believed.

Jesus Himself mentions ....

Luke 9:58
58 Jesus replied,
"Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
NIV
Paul the Apostle Tells us...

Heb 11:35-38

35 Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

36 Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.

37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented -

38 of whom the world was not worthy . They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

NKJV

The eyewitnesses and writers of the Gospel were willing and did die torturous deaths without denying the Christ. The idea that men would die in this fashion for a lie is not acceptable to any individual who studies the science of psychiatry. People may deny the Lord in fear of torture, which is naturally the accepted reaction, but many millions of people were murdered and tortured during Christianity's early years, over six million men, women and children were put to death. Does it make sense that so many would die for a lie? The Love of Christ had been reveled to their heart through the indwelling of the Holly Spirit and they could not deny this great Love not even if it meant being tortured to death!

The one thing that keeps us from seeing Christ Jesus as who He is as described in verses of scripture is what the Bible refers to "scales over our eyes."

The Bible says that satan is responsible for our hearts and minds not being able to see Christ. We are told furthermore that our own flesh, even as believers, is our enemy. Those who have not received the Holy Spirit cannot perceive the things of God. There is a rebirth involved, which Jesus Himself points out, and claims no one can enter Heaven unless they have this rebirth. Allow me to present another example.

There was a famous Rabbi whose name was Saul. He was a very highly educated individual and he had been declared as being one of the most intelligent persons of the ancient world by secular observers due to his writing technique. He had sat under the teaching of one of the most renowned Pharisee of his day. Gamaliel.

Before Saul's conversion, he had sought Christians in order to persecute them. He had been directly responsible for the death of thousands of men, women, and children. With all his education, he could not see Jesus as the Messiah. He saw Christians as a threat to his belief. With an unregenerate heart, a rebirth, he could not follow the command, "Thou shalt not commit murder."

One day, after receiving his marching orders to persecute more Christians, The Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him as a brilliant spectacle which blinded him. He was told to go to a location and wait. We read of this story in the book of Acts 9:2-6

Acts 9:2-6

2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus , so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.

3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.

4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"

5 "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied.

6 "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

Acts 9:9

9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

Acts 9:17-18

17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord-Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here — has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,

NIV

Christ had already been crucified and resurrected from the dead at this point. We know this from the text of the Bible. Yet Dan Brown claims that Constantine gave Christ His divinity four hundred years later. Besides seeing what Christians believed from their own text (the Bible), we know that Constantine never canonized anyone from historical records. From the first century AD, hundreds of years before Constantine was born, Christians were claiming documents to be indisputable Holy script penned out by man but under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Even if you don't want to accept the Christian doctrine for Christianity, you cannot disregard the scientific evidence found throughout history claiming the text to be accurately dated. In other words, you may not accept Christianity, but you cannot deny the text from its actual existence. Christ' divinity is seen here whether you want to believe it or not. Therefore, Constantine did not give Christ divinity as the Da Vinci Codes says nor did any vote by a council.

Anyone who would bother to go to a Christian bookstore online or anywhere else can find many texts regarding this as I did myself as a student. An author can do better research then a student I would imagine if the intent is to present arguments contrary to his/her personal belief accurately.

Or they can just read the words in the New Testament for themselves and see what Christians had wrote.

I must say once again, Dan Brown had motives to injure the Christian faith with his book by discrediting it. You just don't do what Dan Brown has done and say it was just my intent to write fiction. Dan brown mentions gospels that were written hundreds of years after the four we have in our Bible. They were discredit hundreds of years ago.

Dan Brown, the author of the Da Vinci Code, claimed that his work is based on accurate historical events.

The first point....

  1. Dan Brown claims that the deity of Christ was the result of a vote namely the Nicene Creed ... 320AD

Let us look at some of the scriptures which were written by a Christian within the first 50 years of Christ's death.

John had been exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the Gospel. He was well in his years at this point. John believed that Jesus was the Christ before the first century AD had passed. What we have here is a written account of a vision. The vision deals with prophecies still to come in regard to the 'Time of Jacob's Trouble.' Many scholars believe we are entering this period which will bring about the events depicted in the "Book of Revelation!" I must say that the events that are shaping our current world truly seem to be saying the same. I basically cover the introduction on this page to point out what was written in regard to Jesus' deity.

Vision of the Son of Man (Son of God...Jesus)
(Written by John approximately 70 AD.)

Rev 1:9-20

9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

11 saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."

12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.

14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;

15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;

16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

19 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.

20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.
NKJV

Rev 2:17

17 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it."'

NKJV

The manna is in reference to what God had provided for the children of Abraham during the Exodus.
Here we have The Alpha and Omega (Jesus) making reference to this substance. Here Jesus is speaking of His love for us given through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Ex 16:31-34

31 The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.

32 Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 'Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt.'"

33 So Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it. Then place it before the LORD to be kept for the generations to come."

34 As the LORD commanded Moses, Aaron put the manna in front of the Testimony, that it might be kept.
NIV

Jesus' claim to being "The Bread Of Life" is found in the New Testament.

John 6:46-51

46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.

48 I am the bread of life.

49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.

50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
NIV

He will live forever...he who partakes of this "The Bread Of Life." This is the bread that came down from Heaven. Jesus is making it known, to the people He was speaking to at the time, that He came down from Heaven and if they would take part of this, believe He is the Son of God, then they will have eternal life and not die.

So we have Jesus making references to a historical event that took place, which all of the Hebrew people knew of, He was saying God had supplied you with bread during your wilderness travel, now God has sent His only Son as the Bread of Life.

The children of Abraham had to wonder in the wilderness due to their sin and the manna sustained them till they entered into the promised land. Mankind needs the Bread of Life due to our sin in order not to die spiritually for all eternity... To enter into Heaven while we sojourn on the earth.

The Lamb Takes the Scroll

Rev 5:1-10
5:1 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.

2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice,"Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?"

3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."

6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

8 Worthy Is the Lamb Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."
NKJV

We constantly see the term "Lamb" in the Book of Revelation. This is referring to Christ who is the Lamb of God. Though the Book or Revelation is a book depicting God's Judgment on the earth, we see Christ as the Lamb who died for all who would believe. So the Lamb is on the Throne. Will you accept His Love? He died in your place and now He is the Judge. By accepting Christ for your sins, you have His righteousness imputed upon you. You have none outside of His.

The Jews had to sacrifice a lamb that had to be perfect as possible for the atonement. The Old Testament Law was given by God and it was to depict what Jesus would ultimately accomplish on the Cross. He fulfilled the Law and appeased God's righteous requirements. Thus, God remains faithful. It is up to you to accept Jesus as the Lamb that takes away your personal sin in order to enter into Heaven and not be cast into hell in the unregenerate state men are in today. Jesus spoke of hell more than any other prophet. If God put His Son on the cross to appease justice, will He not judge us? We need to have Christ sacrifice speak for our sin. We cannot stand before God and enter Heaven due to our merits! This is why Jesus was willing to die in your place. He Loves you that much. Don't turn away from this Love!

Rev 5:11-12

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

12 saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"

NKJV

Rev 7:9-10

9 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands.

10 And they were shouting with a mighty shout, "Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!"
NLT

Rev 11:15-17

15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: "The whole world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever."

16 And the twenty-four elders sitting on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped him.

17 And they said, "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the one who is and who always was, for now you have assumed your great power and have begun to reign.
NLT

Comfort for God's People

Isa 40:1-5
1 "Comfort, comfort my people," says your God.

2 "Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and that her sins are pardoned. Yes, the LORD has punished her in full for all her sins."

3 Listen! I hear the voice of someone shouting, "Make a highway for the LORD through the wilderness. Make a straight, smooth road through the desert for our God.

4 Fill the valleys and level the hills. Straighten out the curves and smooth off the rough spots.

5 Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!"
NLT

John 1:15-31

15 John pointed him out to the people. He shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Someone is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.' "

16 We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us — one gracious blessing after another.

17 For the law was given through Moses; God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

18 No one has ever seen God. But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart; he has told us about him.

The Testimony of John the Baptist

19 This was the testimony of John when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John whether he claimed to be the Messiah.

20 He flatly denied it. "I am not the Messiah," he said.

21 "Well then, who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?" "No," he replied. "Are you the Prophet?""No."

22 "Then who are you? Tell us, so we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?"

23 John replied in the words of Isaiah: "I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, 'Prepare a straight pathway for the Lord's coming!'"

24 Then those who were sent by the Pharisees

25 asked him, "If you aren't the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?"

26 John told them, "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not know,

27 who will soon begin his ministry. I am not even worthy to be his slave."

28 This incident took place at Bethany, a village east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.

Jesus, the Lamb of God

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Soon a man is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.'

31 I didn't know he was the one, but I have been baptizing with water in order to point him out to Israel."

NLT

Here I covered briefly what the Christian doctrine is. Life eternal in paradise, a life set apart here on this earth, holding on to a future glory.

One thing you must come to reckon with. That is Jesus did not give us a choice of claiming Him as anything else but God on earth. That was His claim and that is what He has proven to be by the fulfillment of scriptures. Please see these links on this site Jesus' Crucifix and Jesus' Prayer. You will see how the Lord speaks of His death before hand. Base your decision on Historical facts not on documents that have been discredited regarding their accuracy for hundreds of years.

Below is a copy of the Nicene Creed. You will note that the creed is based on the ancient text of the Bible that were written hundreds of years before the Nicene Creed. Those who held these texts believed what they said and died upholding their belief centuries before Constantine was born.

Chapter 11 - Of Jesus Christ, True God and Man, the Only Savior of the World
Of Jesus Christ, True God and Man, the Only Savior of the World

CHRIST IS TRUE GOD.

We further believe and teach that the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, was predestined or foreordained from eternity by the Father to be the Savior of the world.

And we believe that he was born, not only when he assumed flesh of the Virgin Mary, and not only before the foundation of the world was laid, but by the Father before all eternity in an inexpressible manner.

For Isaiah said: Who can tell his generation? (Ch.53:8).

And Micah says: His origin is from of old, from ancient days (Mic 5:2).
And John said in the Gospel: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, etc.(Ch.1:1).

Therefore, with respect to his divinity the Son is coequal and consubstantial with the Father; true God (Phil 2:11), not only in name or by adoption or by any merit, but in substance and nature, as the apostle John has often said: This is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5:20).

Paul also says: He appointed the Son the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature, upholding all things by his word of power (Heb 1:2 f.).

For in the Gospel the Lord himself said: Father, glorify Thou me in Thy own presence with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was made (John 17:5).

John 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
