The Nations Stand Against The Anointed One

Ps 2:1-8
Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
4 The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD:

He said to me,

"You are my Son;

today I have become your Father.

8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance,

the ends of the earth your possession."

Isa 46:13

I bring near my righteousness;
it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and
I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory

Jeremiah 23: 5-6

Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD,
when I will raise up for David a Righteous Branch,
and He will reign wisely as king
and administer justice and righteousness in the land.
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely.
And this is His name by which He will be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness.

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me,
because the LORD has anointed Me to
preach good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives and
release from darkness to the prisoners,

Act 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and

Luke 4:16-21
Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath. And when He stood up to read, the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on Me,
because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Then He rolled up the scroll, returned it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on Him, and He began by saying,

"Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Isaiah 49:5,6

And now says the LORD,

who formed me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be gathered to Him - for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and my God is my strength -

He says: "It is not enough for you to be My Servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the protected ones of Israel.

I will also make you a light for the nations, to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth."

Looking at the scripture found in Jeremiah chapter 23 verses 4 and 5 above, we read the words spoken by God to Jeremiah speaking of the royal line of King David. From this line God is telling us that there will be a very special individual who will king and His Name is one of the Names of God. He will be called GOD. Isaiah also presents the words of God speaking directly to us and telling us of a virgin who will conceive a child who will be called Mighty God! The scriptures tell us continually to be on the lookout for this particular individual and as we can tell from the verses mentioned here, this is not an ordinary individual. This is the Messiah! No man can be called GOD but this particular One Who will break fort from the womb of a virgin not stained by the Fall yet completely human - completely God.

Twelve hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ we have a statement in Psalm 2 verses 1 through 8 making reference to the Anointed one. This is one individual in particular whom the rulers of the earth will stand against. Some modern rabbis say this is "an" anointed one meaning it could be a king or priest. But as we read the nations of the earth will stand against this particular individual. But just by His asking, the LORD will give this person all nations to the ends of the earth as His possession. This is not just an anointed person!

The ancient Rabbis claimed this is The Messiah (The Mashiyach). The ancient expositors on Psalm 2 tell us that this is the One spoken of by the prophets: The long awaited Messiah of Israel and the world.

"The Sages taught: To Messiah ben David, who is destined to be revealed swiftly in our time, the Holy One, Blessed be He, says:

Ask of Me anything and I will give you whatever you wish, as it is stated: "I will tell of the decree; the Lord said unto me: You are My son, this day have I begotten you, ask of Me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession" (Psalms 2:7-8).

Once the Messiah ben David saw Messiah ben Yosef, who was killed, he says to the Holy One, Blessed be He: Master of the Universe, I ask of you only life; that I will not suffer the same fate. The Holy One, Blessed be He, says to him: Life? Even before you stated this request, your father, David, already prophesied about you with regard to this matter precisely, as it is stated: " He asked life of You, You gave it to him; even length of days for ever and ever" (Psalms 21:5). www.sefaria.org"

Let us read some verses found in the Book of Yohanan in the New testament quoting the words Jesus Spoke of as He knew of the time He was to endure the Cross.

John 10:17-18
17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

18
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.
I have power to lay it down,
and I have power to take it again.
This command I have received from My Father."
----------------------------------------
NKJV

What is interesting is that the ancient rabbis envisioned a duplicity in The Messiah: "Messiah ben David saw Messiah ben Yosef"; One Who conquers, and One Who suffers . As Believes in Messiah we know from the New Testament that there are two appearances of The Messiah, just as Joseph who showed us Messiah Ben Yoseph; The Suffering Servant and Kind David showed us Messiah Ben David; the Conquering King. This is due to the contrast painted for us of Messiah in the Old Testament. The ancient rabbis and ancient writing clearly state this duplicity.

(You do not necessarily need to call yourself a Christian to believe that Jesus (the Christ) is the Messiah - One Who suffers -- One Who conquers. Please do not let the evil of those who claimed themselves to be Christian and committed atrocities against the nation of Israel keep you from saying yes to Yeshua! You do not need attend a Christian church. There are many Rabbis who believe in Yeshua and have congregations online and in many locations. Those who committed atrocities against Israel will stand before God and receive their due.)

Below is a video by the host of the show, It's Supernatural", by Sid Roth. Sid Roth is a Jewish man who came to faith and had escaped from the darkness of false religious concepts as he was seeking something to satisfy.
He gives his story of how Yeshua saved his life!

Rabbi Shaul (Paul the Apostle) tells us in the New Testament;
2 Corinthians 5:10,11

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

From the Ancient Hebrew Prayer Book

"Here is a prayer from the "Rosh Hashanah / Yom Kippur" prayer book dating back to 1928

http://www.mayimhayim.org/

'Our righteous Anointed is departed from us: horror has seized us, and we have none to justify us. He has borne the yoke of our iniquities, and our transgression, and is wounded because of our transgression. He bears our sins on his shoulders, that we may find pardon for our iniquities. We shall be healed by the wound, at the time that eternal will create the Messiah as a new creature, O bring him up from the circle of the earth. Raise him up from Seir, to assemble us the second time on mount Lebanon, by the hand of Yinon.'

So we see here in this ancient prayer book that the Suffering of Messiah was expected from very early times as this quote from the Old Testament dates to around 800 BC. The Suffering Messiah is a known fact of the ancient Hebrew people.

Today people say that Isaiah 53 is related to Israel as a nation and not an individual, but that is not what the ancient sages taught and wrote about as we can see here and many places not mentioned in this brief expository. Israel is persecuted by the nations, and Israel will be raised to a high place of prominence on earth as the Messiah will rule and reign from Jerusalem and truly will be the King of Peace. The birth of Israel took place during the life of Jacob whose name was changed to Israel by God Himself. Also when we read Isaiah 53 we read of the 'Suffering Servant Messiah' which the rabbis noted by reading scriptures as we find in Genesis regarding the life of Joseph and his suffering. We read in Genesis chapter 49 in verse 10;

Genesis 49:10
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet,
until Shiloh come;
and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

----------------------------------------
KJV

So the scepter, the rulership, will be under Judah, Israel's tribal leadership of the nation, until Someone come, then the people will be gathered to this individual. That is prophetic in one sense that all nations shall be under His rulership in the near future as the King of Kings and Lord of lords. But here Jacob, Israel, is speaking to the nation his sons will give birth to. Judah was declared to rule over all the tribes of Israel and we see King David the Son of Jessie doing just that some 1,200 years before the birth of Messiah, which is a direct fulfillment of Jacob's words as Judah had to be the ruling class. But when would the scepter depart from Judah?

The Scepter of Judah

by Chuck Missler @ https://www.khouse.org

"When the members of the Sanhedrin found themselves deprived of their right over life and death, they covered their heads with ashes and their bodies with sackcloth, and bemoaned, "Woe unto us for the scepter has departed from Judah and the Messiah has not come!" They actually thought that the Torah, the Word of God, had failed! They should have known better."

The scepter had, indeed, been removed from Judah, but Shiloh had come. While the Jews wept in the streets of Jerusalem, a young son of a carpenter was growing up in Nazareth. He would present Himself as the Meshiach Nagid, Messiah the King, on the very day which had been predicted by the Angel Gabriel to Daniel five centuries earlier.

(In fact, every detail of His life had been foretold centuries earlier.) https://www.khouse.org/articles/1999/187/

This is a highly significant prophesy we are reading here as the head of the nation Israel, whose name was Jacob, is on his deathbed and pronouncing the inheritance of his children whom are the 12 Tribes of Israel, the Nation of Israel itself.

There is One and only One Whom is worthy of the Rulership of Israel and that is God... God in the flesh of a human male! That person was born on earth 2,000 years ago!

Rabbi Jonathan Cahn states that the rabbis in Jerusalem tore their clothing as they had known the scepter had departed from Judah and Shiloh had not arrived. But at this time Jesus incarnated into flesh and though they would not recognize Him, He is the King from Eternity Past!

Fausset's Bible Dictionary

... SHILOH "the Peacemaker" is best, and so our Hebrew text requires as it has the yod. "Abraham rejoiced to see Messiah's day, he saw it and was glad" (John 8:56); Jacob naturally expresses the same sure anticipation.

The taxing (Luke 2:1-2) on the eve of Jesus' birth definitely marked the passing of the sceptre (the tribal authority and royal prominence) and of the lawgiver (the Sanhedrin expounders of the law, literally, the ruler's staff, mechoqyeeq; Num 21:18) from Judah, which virtually had begun some time before, and which was consummated only at Jerusalem's overthrow by Rome. The Herods, though Rome's creatures, exercised a quasi-native sovereignty in Judah just before and after Jesus' birth. ...

Besides a suffering Messiah, the ancient Rabbis also read of the Conquering King Messiah as they have known as King David and his life. They knew both figures, Joseph and King David were pictures - types of the Messiah. They were looking for hints as to the life of The Messiah so they would know their redemption was drawing near as God has promised His people the eventual conquering of death itself - death which came about at the fall of Adam and Eve is to be swallowed up by Life!

The event being referenced here is yet in our future and many scholars do not think it is too far ahead of our present day. There will come a time as it is written in our Bibles as noted above in Psalm 2 verses 2 and 3 that at the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (Messiah Ben David) the nations will rebel and actually attempt to overthrow Jesus as He comes to establish His thrown in Jerusalem and take the Kingship of the earth which is rightly His and His alone.

We find three hundred prophecies concerning the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (Messiah Ben Yoseph) within the Bible and nearly a three fold (300%) number of prophecies concerning the second coming (Messiah Ben David). Know that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies concerning His first appearance and we can trust the Bible that He will return and fulfill the remaining prophecies.

They say that for one person to fulfill just 8 prophecies regarding the life of the Messiah would be a chance such as picking 1 silver dollar from a pile of silver dollars that would cover the state of Texas one foot deep! The state of Texas is 26% larger than France. (Messiah Ben Yoseph) has fulfilled over 100 prophecies written in the Tanach and not just 8. My friends please understand (Messiah Ben Yoseph) has come and will come again as (Messiah Ben David)! He will save Israel! He will redeem His people, He will rule from Jerusalem and the kingdoms of this earth will bring tribute to Israel. And there will be peace on earth for The Millennial Reign of Messiah.

Presently Satan sits upon the kingdoms of this earth as we see how unGodliness rules our culture and world. Satan showed Jesus the kingdoms of the world and told Him that he would give Him these kingdoms if Jesus would worship Satan. Satan had to make a valid claim or there would be no temptation involved. If I wanted to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge for 5 million dollars, you probably would know better than to give me your money. So the temptation had to be based on reality or there is no temptation.

We may be in objection to a politician, but to be in objecting to God as He comes to rule the earth and actually save all life on earth from men warring and killing each other is foolish.

The Bible tells us in Jesus' very own words in the Book of Matthew chapter 24 verse 22:

Matthew:24:22

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
----------------------------------------
KJV
The "Elect" here are the Jewish People.

Not a wise choice for man to war against God, but this is what we do due to our fallen nature in some way, shape, or form. In California they recently wanted to make the Bible an outlawed book. Why attack Bible believers? Man's perversion at work in his heart will always war against the Spirit.
Gal 5:17

Gal 5:17

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

----------------------------------------

KJV

Which brings us back to Psalm 2 noted again below. Even as Christians we have a battle here as defined for us by the New Testament. And why is that? At the Fall of Adam and Eve, man was subject to Satan. God intervened to save mankind. But the flesh we currently are housed in must be replaced by a new heavenly body which will never die or decay. Transhumanism cannot suffice nor compare in any way to the resurrection of the redeemed.

Ps 2:3
Psalm 2
3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
----------------------------------------
NIV

Note that the "Anointed one" is in uppercase. This references the Messiah-ship of Jesus (Maashiyach) as we see in the book of Daniel (approximately 535 BC) in some translations. King David, (approximately 1200 BC) prophesied of Jesus as well in several instances while he was writing the Psalms.

It has been said that the entire Old Testament's purpose is to point mankind to the Messiah. I would have to say, being a Christian myself, that there can be no other concept, faith, or knowledge of any kind that can supersede the importance of the Messiah, A savior for mankind. Men believed advances in science would help relieve human suffering, but we see today more people are suffering on a greater scale as food prices soar.

You may disagree and say the Bible and other religious beliefs were generated by primitive people without an understanding for the natural world around them, therefore created gods to to suffice the unexplainable.

But the complexities evidenced in the Bible suggest this is not correct. What we see within the text shows that these ancient people were more complicated and had greater abilities then modern man, or one may concur, as it has been suggested, the Bible is composed of text penned by human hands, but its influence is due to the very one it speaks about - God Himself.... God spoke - men wrote.

"All the prophets prophesied only of the days of the Messiah."1

Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 99a

1Dr. Mark Eastman & Pastor Chuck Smith: The Search For Messiah Joy Publishing: ISBN 9-789367-28077

We see in the Bible themes interwoven with the cultures of several nations. There is archaeological evidence within these cultures that upholds what the Bible is saying at that particular time. There are prophetic announcements within the Bible telling us what is to occur within a particular culture. We see from archaeological evidence, scientific evidence on the Bible itself, and of the culture in question as well - that the events occurred just as the prophets have said.

Daniel is one Bible book that can be brought to case and point here. This book has been criticized as being written after the facts within it occurred due to its extraordinary and accurate prophetic nature. But there is evidence that tells us this is not the case. Reading Daniel is like reading tomorrows newspaper today and the various translations of the book prove its date of origin and that the message Daniel is telling had to come from its originator, God, as Daniel points out.

Alexander the Great had an inclination torward the Jewish people and instructed the translation of the current Old Testament of their era into the common language of the day, which is Greek. Seventy scholars were chosen to fulfill this task and hence we have the Septuagint. The dating of Daniel has to occur at least before the time of this translation if one wants to argue its time of origin.

Let us look at a some text that suggest the Messiah would die

"but not for Himself ... "

Daniel 9:26
26 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah (Anointed One) shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
----------------------------------------
NKJV
John 1:3-5
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend* it.
----------------------------------------
NKJV
Jesus has told us, "no one takes my life from me ..."
John 10:15
15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

John 10:17-18
17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
----------------------------------------
NKJV
Who does Jesus lay down His life for? He says, "for the sheep." Sheep have a characteristic of being completely helpless. They do not even know to lay down and a shepherd has to literally force sheep to do so. We hear King David speak of God making him lie down in green pastures. The 'sheep' is a picture of mankind. Man has to depend upon God for survival and entrance into His kingdom of Heaven. Man is doomed to eternal separation from the Good Shepherd, which means the helpless sheep will become prey. This is literally man's predicament. Man is eternal spiritually speaking and will receive a body that transhuminst cannot dream of, but where he spends eternity is dependent on whether he follows Jesus Who is said to be "the Light of men." We have to receive the sacrafice which (Messiah Ben Yoseph) has performed for humaity. (Messiah Ben Yoseph) has told us He did not come into the world to condemn the world. The world is judged by the fall of Adam and Eve. He came to save that which was lost.

Jesus fulfilled dozens of prophecies that make it just impossible for this to be made up stories of primitive people looking for solutions and a social structure to govern themselves as some have suggested. If one were to consider just eight of the prophetic announcements concerning the Messiah being fulfilled by any particular individual, the mathematical probabilities suggest that it would be absolutely impossible for any one to do so by probability. It would equate to covering the entire state of Texas with silver dollars 1 foot deep, marking one, and then finding this one by random chance. It has been estimated that Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies.

    Jesus has told us,

Matthew 13:44-46

The Parable of the Hidden Treasure

44 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price

45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,

46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
----------------------------------------
NKJV
I would suggest to the reader finding Jesus, the Comforter known as the Holy Spirit, is the one who finds this "pearl of great price." One needs to hide this priceless treasure within their heart and one can do so simply by asking Jesus to do just that... to come into your heart. Don't be concerned about the sins you may have committed or the things you like to do. Once you receive the gift of eternal life and the joy of the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, you will find it much easier to depart from what seems so valuable to you - things that may hinder you from receiving eternal life at this time.

The link titled 'Heaven' guides one to receiving Christ. This is imperative in order to escape eternal destruction. As we explore the prophecies of the Bible throughout this web site, you will see how incredibly accurate the Bible truly is.

You must consider Christ being who He claimed to be and what He put Himself through. Do not blame God for your suffering. I think we all do to some extent but that is a decaractorization of the God we find in Scripture. The issue of pain and suffering is do to sin. This has always been the case and is so in our society today. The sacrifice God has established through (Messiah Ben Yoseph) is established for you personally ... for anyone who is willing to open their heart to Him. If this is all true, if God in the person of Jesus Christ (Messiah Ben Yoseph) laid bare His arm on the cross, so that mankind might spend eternity in paradise, then what are you going to do about those facts? Are you going to turn and walk away. Please consider the consequences in light of the evidence.
John 5:20-25
20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.

21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,

23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

25 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
----------------------------------------
NIV

John 5:40-43
40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

41 "I do not receive honor from men.

42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

43 I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
----------------------------------------
NKJV

Getting back to our discussion on some of the arguments purposed against the Bible text; as for the people of the Old Testament being primitive and looking for solutions to the unexplainable, the evidence points us in the opposite direction. Inherent to the Bible's design is a complex liturgical structure hidden beneath the text that speaks of the same prophecies written outright within its pages that show us what is to happen in the New Testament writings thousands of years before hand as well as what is yet to occur in our future. These statements are found by a skip - letter sequence we call Equidistant Letter Sequencing (ELS). This is just one of several complex codes within the Bible. Keep in mind this is one of the simpler ones click on the pop up box link here or see the page titled the Scopes-Trial where the video is as well. The ELS Bible Code.

Sometimes the hidden structure points out New Testament stories that are hidden within the names of several individuals within a particular story and their association to one another. Their relationship and their names unfold precisely in the New Testament. This could not have been conjured up by men. Men who would oppose the New Testament as it was being lived out historically and fulfilled Biblically in the outright prophetic fulfillment could not have designed or would oppose even if it were possible to design the outcome of prophesy being fulfilled during their time.

If it's there by man's design, why would the men of this culture oppose it? Realistically, it is impossible to design this unless you are God.

For further proof of the Bible, I suggest reading or to see the DVD based on the book by Lee Strobel called "The Case for Christ." You can search for this title if the link fails. The DVD production is excellent. This production portrays an investigative reporter's quest for truth in the Bible's accuracy and Christianity as a whole.

Looking at King David's Psalms -- the ancient kings of Israel were anointed by a prophet or a High Priest. King David had no way of having insight at the time that he was prophesying of the Messiah on many occasions.
Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

----------------------------------------
NIV
King David never possessed nations to the ends of the earth, so this prophesy could not have been for himself. King David was promised by God that his descendant would sit on the throan forever. The Messiah will as He has been mentioned elsewhere in the Bible to do so and does so by saving mankind from destroying himself and the earth. He doesn't muster up armies or military might. He speaks a word and conquers darkness and sets up a kingdom of peace for a millennium and he takes the heathen sinners and makes them clean and pure before God Almighty. How; by dying in their stead so that they may have eternal life. All one has to do is receive the gift of Salvation ... accepting (Messiah Ben Yoseph) as the one Who would die in the place of any whom would receive Him. Then when He comes as (Messiah Ben David), you could enter His Kingdom: 'Heaven'.
2 Samuel 7:12,13

12 And when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He will build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

----------------------------------------
Berean Study Bible
Zech 4:6
6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:

'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

----------------------------------------
NIV

The might and power is in reference to man's abilities and the Spirit is that which is of God. The Messiah, Jesus, (Messiah Ben David) comes to stop mankind from totally destroying himself and just about everything else on earth right at the end of the last week prophesied by Daniel during the battle of Armageddon.

Matthew 24:27-33

27
For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west,
so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 "Immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'

30

"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn.
They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.

31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32 "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.

33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

Since we have touched on end time events, namely Armageddon, let us look at some circumstances that many prominent Bible scholars feel will take place shortly.

This Battle of Armageddon is instigated by an individual we call the antichrist. He will appear as a prominent leader and deceive the world. He will desecrate a temple, which yet has to be built. Eventually, he will deceive the world into thinking that he is God and that he can bring world peace. He will sign a peace treaty that is to last 7 years, but in the midst of the 7 year period, he breaks his own treaty. This will lead to the battle of Armageddon where 200 million troops alone will die. This was prophesied by Daniel, during a time when children of Abraham were in captivity in Babylon (600 to 500 BC).

For thousands of years this Prophesy lay dormant in that it deals specifically with a nation called Israel. As most of us know, Israel had was not a nation until 1947. It had ceased to exist as a nation some suggest by the last dispersion of 70 AD. The Prophesy spoken by Jesus was recorded by Matthew at approximately 64 AD. The birth of the Nation of Israel is significant for the whole world. In regard to many prophetic events mentioned in the Bible, Israel is at the center. Daniel is told, by the Angel Gabriel, that the Prophesy deals specifically with his nation of Israel and its capital Jerusalem. Jerusalem is in Israel's possession since the "Six Day War." Also note Israel did not instigate the war but was attacked and defended itself miraculously - by God's help. Once again, another piece of the puzzle has fallen into place.
Daniel 9:20-26
  1. 20 While I was speaking, praying, confessing my sin and that of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy hill -

  2. 21 while I was still praying, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.

  3. 22 He instructed me and spoke with me, saying: "O Daniel, I have come now to give you insight with understanding.

  4. 23 At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:

  5. 24 Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their transgression, to put an end to sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

  6. 25 Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until the Messiah, the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of distress.

  7. 26 Then after the sixty-two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.

What is the next piece of the puzzle that is missing in line with what we have discussed here? The temple has to be built. Currently all the apparatus is already in existence. The Jewish people are looking for the opportunity to build the temple and worship as they had in the Israel of the past. This is very heavy and dear to their heart.

2The Sanhedrin (Greek for assembly):

Sanhedrin

The Sanhedrin was the highest court in Israel. Their first assembly occurred during the Exodus from Egypt approximately 3,500 years ago Num 11:16-17. They meet for the last time in Tiberias, Israel 453 AD. They are the ones who must oversee the building of the temple. This will be the third temple - the one the antichrist desecrates and Jesus quotes and tells the Jews to flee to Petra without haste when the Antichrist appears there. Recently, the new Sanhedrin has convened (October 13, 2004) and the building of the temple is of great consideration.

Daniel's famed 70 weeks:
Daniel 9:24

24 "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy,

And to anoint the Most Holy.

Orthodox Jewish Girl Found the Messiah

1 The Seventy Weeks spoken of in the Book of Daniel refer to prophetic events which have taken place except for one of them. The word week can be thought of today as to mean seven and in this instance is making reference to 7 years. Thus, we have 70 x 7 or 490 years. The last week is referred to as the Tribulation period. This period is soon to start in our current history. The anointing of the Most Holy (Note the capitalization.) is in reference to the Messiah. Just as King David, who was a prophet, priest, and king, the Messiah is also and He will be anointed by the elect of Israel. Israel is currently in possession of a jar of this anointing oil which was used during the second temple that was destroyed just as Jesus prophesied it would while He was here at His first coming.

2 Grant R. Jeffrey; 'The New Temple and the Second Coming'

3 VI: And to anoint the Most Holy, qodesh qaadaashiym, "the Holy of holies." Maashach, to anoint, (from which comes Maashiyach, the Messiah, the anointed one), signifies in general, to consecrate or appoint to some special office. Here it means the consecration or appointment of our blessed Lord, the Holy One of Israel, to be the Prophet, Priest, and King of mankind.
